No matter how long the winter spring is sure to follow...

“Skin white as snow, lips red as blood, and hair black as ebony.”

Ever since the start of the gossip girl and lying game seasons this year
stylish shorts have been popping up again and again.

I've been waiting for it to warm up a bit so I could try it for myself
and today's sunshine provided a great opportunity...

I was liking the many tucked in belted looks so thats where I started

Though my look is defiantly far less dressy than the lying game girls
it seemed more practical for the day ahead...

This photo shows Ellen's necklace from Diva.
When we first got it the lines looked like kryptonian symbols to me
but it turns out to say love when you spin it around.
It sort of reminds me of the Hermione's time turner
that I one day would love to acquire in silver.

Butter of the week: Trout Pout

This week I finally got to try out the polish that is trout pout. I
t somehow manages to be bright but neutral at the same time.
The colour was quite hard to capture on camera
but there were two photos that mostly managed to show its beauty.

Trout pout is a great description, (and cute pun),
but the polish is also very close in colour to smoked salmon

Hopefully my legs wont be
as lilly white the next time I bare them

Lying Fridays #7

"One thing about being on top of the world... it gives you a long, long way to fall"
- Gossip girl

Despite the brilliant new season of gossip girl that's hit are screens with more drama and fashion than ever before,

We cant help but look back ...

Back to where it all began...

Where the place on the met steps was everything and uniforms consisted of headbands.

Yes i'm talking about season one fashion of Gossip Girl.

Inspired by the old Blair and Serena, we played dress up
and re-created their old high school uniforms
for Lying Fridays number 7.

Tara was inspired by Serena's uniform look...

And Ellen was inspired by Blair's uniform look...

What do you think?

Do you miss the girls high school style?

Till next time,

Procrastination is something best put off till tomorrow...

Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months
 - Oscar Wilde

This is a photo I took last year while studying for exams
(can you believe its that time again already?)
and my chalk pen diagram I drew got condensation on it.

Since I'm home most days studying now,
I was at home when my new asos skirt and necklace arrived,
so I could rip into it right away.

It's almost like a paper bag style waist, but without the added material bulk
which is more flattering if like me you're not stick thin.

Asos's big sale is still on now if you want to grab some good bargains.

For once i tried to steer away from black,
but still ended up with a relatively neutral mustard.

I paired it with a leather jacket and trusty chucks for a study session at the libarary.

Speaking of the library, I read Melissa Marr's latest book.
I enjoyed reading her Wicked Lovely series and I couldn't resist the cover art.

I know they say not to judge a book by its cover,
but I really am a sucker for a good one :)

What sort of things suck you in when you are meant to be studying?
Fashion blogs perhaps?

Double Double This This Double Double That That

"Double double this this, double double that that, double this, double that, double double this that"
(tehe a little hand game i used to play when i was little)

Speaking of double, I have always admired outfits with double belts. Whether it's dresses or paints, the look always looks a little quirky and fun with two belts instead of one.

And after seeing Aria Montgomery rocking the double belt look several times on the tv show Pretty Little Liars,  i decided to give it a go!

Here's my inspiration...

And here's how it turned out.

Toilet Paper Fashion?

"I like my money right where i can see it - hanging in my closet"
- Sex and the City

Like our hair accessories? Keep reading..

Above: Tara         Below: Ellen

In a world where designer leather handbags are beginning to be frowned upon by those supporting animals rights and our environment, it's refreshing to see people using all our world has to offer when creating fashion.
Now I'm not talking about exotic plants and tropical flowers,
I'm talking about toilet paper.
Yes i know, it's not something you associate with  fashion, but think again and keep reading...

I snagged front row seats at the fashion show held at the the Cloud as apart of the Real New Zealand Festival being held during the rugby world cup. The point was to show off New Zealand fashion and take a look at highlights of NZFW.
But the stand out collection for me wasn't Trelise Cooper or Stolen Girlfriends Club,

but the Kleenex Cottonelle Couture Collection.
A collection of dresses made of toilet paper and tissue paper.
And these is only one word i can use to describe it.
Stunning.

These are some photos i snapped of the collection.

Now how can you say this is not amazing?

Paired with diamonds and heels, the dresses were transformed from just toilet paper dresses, to runway worthy looks!

What do you guys think of toilet paper fashion?

Personally i would love to see a whole show of these, not just three looks.

oui ou non?

Lying Fridays #6 - Gossip Girl Business Casual

"Napoleon once said that secrets travel fast in Paris. But Gossip Girl travels faster."
-Gossip Girl

For those of you who are new followers or readers,

Friday is a day we dedicate our post to some amazing tv show fashion we have seen

over the week.

In the past we have done many Lying Friday's posts on either

Gossip Girl, The Lying Game or Pretty Little Liars.

This week, the new season of gossip girl has had us on the edge of our seat.

Not only is there drama, but some amazing fashion.

We decided to take a  look at Serena's style in the episode.

Feeling inspired, I tried the business casual look.

I used the idea of a structured dress and over-sized cardigan like Serena. Then i

finished it off with a side pony tail and sneakers.

What do you think of Gossip girl season 5?
