Just some simple words...

"Funny that a pair of really nice shoes make us feel good in our heads - at the extreme opposite end of our bodies."
- Levende Waters

A gold belt, a white shirt, a winter coat.
All classic pieces a paired together to complete this look.
Keeping it simple and chic is the way i like to do it.
Much like the words in this post...

Bursting bags...

Night's darkness is the bag that bursts with the gold of the dawn.
-Rabindranath Tagore

I'm a pretty big believer in the power of accessories.
They can be functional, or pretty or both and have the ability to totally change
the vibe of an outfit.

For example below a beanie is essential for a bit of added heat,
while heels and red lippy morph to look away from something casual.
My new staple accessory at the moment is my OASAP bag.
Its the perfect size to carry my notes for university along with the mass of things
I haul with me everyday (including extensive highlighter collection).
I liked this imagery of today's quote reminded me of the unmissable
golden yellow of my bag haha.

Nerds have more fun...

"Eventually, the nerds and the geeks will have their day."
 - Judd Apatow

A nerd is defined as "an unfashionable or socially inept person".
So can I still be a nerd even though i have a blog?
I certainly feel a little nerdy in today's outfit with my  vintage 'glasses', ASOS bear hat and my Mockingjay pin.

Childhood nostalgia, but can you be nostalgic for your childhood if you're still a child at heart?

"The secret of genius is to carry the spirit of the child into old age, which mean never losing your enthusiasm."

Do you remember when you were a kid and you chose your outfit based
on individual items you loved without considering the whole picture?
You choose soft and cozy textures, appealing colours and glittery things.
The resulting outfit was one you were so happy to be wearing since
each component in isolation could make you smile.

Today I channeled some of that enthusiasm.
A beautiful soft amazing smelling leather jacket,
a cozy jersey dress that swished past my legs with each step,
my favourite new shoes with a small heel cause I'm a grown up and that's what they wear,
a bright happy lime scarf with gold thread that glitters throughout,
and lastly an assortment of my go to jewelry at the moment.

Though it came together looking better than most of the creations in my childhood,
it was nice to think back to those days when getting dressed wasn't so much about what it looked like but how it felt.

Till next time...

Smile, its a sunflower...

"And the yellow sunflower by the brook, in autumn beauty stood."

      - William Cullen Bryant

Such a good time of year to have beautiful sunflowers spilling out of vases around the house.
I was inspired to get out my well worn yellow skirt after coming home to find a bundle of bright yellow sunflowers on our dining room table...

Skirt: Savemart

A hat to hide rain damaged hair...

"Hats are a great antidote to what's going on. It's really their purpose to put a happy face on a sad world."
- Stephen Jones

My new lovely hat from ASOS certainly brings smiles to strangers faces when i wear it out and about.
And its perfect for the indesisive Auckland weather at the moment, where its raining one minute and sunny the next. My mother always says that if you dont like the weather in Auckland, just wait 5 minutes for it to change...

Trying out new things...

"Whoever said money can't buy happiness simply didn't know where to go shopping."
-Bo Derek

I've been wearing my new leather asos boots with almost every outfit at the moment.
In the time waiting for them to arrive it seemed like everything I put on would have looked better with them.
But there here now, and today's post is the second of many with these puppies.

belt - kookai
ring, necklace, skirt, boots - asos
phew didn't realise I had that much asos in one outfit haha

I saw a really cool picture on tumblr the other day of Hunger Games inspired nailpolish
with 'girl on fire' themed spiky flames.
And it has inspired me to be a bit more creative with my nail polish.
Easing into it, this weeks creation was using
Butter's "Jaffa" and "Union Jack Black".
All the nails are plain black except for two which have an orange spike/abstract flame I made by covering some of the nail with tape.

Till next time :) ...

There's always a way to find money for new things...

“I spent $40K on shoes and I have no place to live?! I will literally be the old woman who lived in her shoes!”

My bank account was looking pretty sad lately,
something that goes hand in hand with being a student,
but I couldnt resist these ASOS Aggie Western boots!

Ive been looking at the various colours and styles of these for a long time,
but when they came on sale I could see no more reasons not to get them.
Maybe I will end up like the old woman who lived in her shoes,
but at least ill still have these babies...

 Shoes - Asos
Fox ring - Asos
Scarf - hand-knitted (pattern here)

Is there anything that always stop you from saving?
