Wise words and pretty skirts...

"The reality is that women have different moods and require different looks for various parts of their lives - Its my job to answer all their needs"
- Micheal Kors

Micheal Kors, you are the door to my wardrobe, the blood that pumps my heart,
as long as you continue to do that job, We will all love you forever.

With the Micheal Kors quote in my head, this morning I was searching for something beautiful to match my relaxed mood.

This skirt from 'LOVE' was the perfect match to my mood.
The dreamy, light, sparkly fabric was simply gorgeous

"Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening."

 - Coco Chanel

Another sewing project is completed from the pile of fabric I have accumulated.
I bought this fabric on a whim, attracted by the pretty colours and beautiful feel of the silk.

I decided to use it with an adapted pattern inspired by Leighton Meesters
awesome peach shirt-dress in Monte Carlo.

I spent every scene in the movie with this dress admiring it...

I incorporated some of the things I liked into my own dress;
the full skirt, cinched waist and buttons down the front, big pockets.

I left out sleeves since it is both for summer and the print might have made it too much.

I  also noticed when I was about to sew the buttons on
that they almost perfectly matched my nail polish!

The polish is one of my few remaining non-Butter ones called Waters Edge by L'Oreal.
I'm a bit of a sucker for all things turquoise :)

What's a colour you always seem to gravitate to?

Little Miss Magic...

"The best part of the day is picking out what to wear"
- Elle Fanning

While other girls my age fall asleep thinking of a boy, or an upcoming test in school, I fall asleep creating new outfits in my head. I dream of new clothes coming in the mail and all the outfits waiting to be put together and posted.
This quote from Elle Fanning (in an article in Australian Vogue) represents this post and outfit perfectly! I was so excited for my day out just because I got to wear this outfit, and ofcourse, photograph it!

It's not blue it's turquoise

"Style is primarily a matter of instinct"
- Bill Blass

When I set out for my shopping trip today, I didn't really NEED any new jewellery. But then like my father says, "It's not a matter of need its a matter of want" .
So yes, I really wanted this ring from Diva and what's a ring without a necklace? So in went the necklace along with the ring into my shopping bag.
I really loved the colour of this ring, I cant wait to wear it!

Shoes make me happy, im superficial whatever

"Shoes make me happy, im superficial whatever"
- Anonymous

I've had these suede shoes for a good month now.
No matter how many times I put them with an outfit, I manage to think of another one they'd be perfect with.
They're so comfortable and versatile, I've worked and walked far in these babies.

Today I went for a more casual look.
Teaming  them with dark wash jeans and a cool laser cut top I got from dotti.

I also tried out my newest Butter addition:

The Black Knight is a nail polish of dark glittery goodness.
It's hard to capture in a photograph the way the light hits the many colours in the mix.
I tried many times, but couldn't quite get a photo to do it justice. You get the idea though :)

Also I'm just doing the finishing touches on that sewing project I started and got distracted from.
Look out for that in the next couple of posts

Till next time...

Hey Tyra I love your collar...

"In difficult times fashion is always outrageous."
- Elsa Schiaparelli

As Tyra Banks spoke her famous words "Two girls stand before me but I only have one photo in my hand...",
I was on the edge of my seat, but for different reasons than most people. I  was totally in love with her necklace. So as she kicked of another aspiring model from America's Next Top Model, I was to busy on the internet searching for her necklace - a gold necklace that looked like a peter pan colour but it was created out of gold chains.
From that moment on, i have been in love with the detachable collar trend.
From ASOS to some of my favourite bloggers, I'm seeing them everywhere, But since the only one i could find in the shops in NZ happened to be Louis Vuitton (meaning the price made my eyes pop), i decided to make one.

Lying Fridays #8

"Never trust a pretty girl with an ugly secret."
- Pretty little liars

With the new year comes a bunch of new TV shows and the return of some of our favourites.
Some of my personal favs are Pretty Little Liars, The Lying game and Gossip Girl. And as usual, every episode is packed with amazing fashion.
So it's time for the return of Lying Fridays, a day of the week where we at Shop Style Conquer look back at this weeks shows from the giggly box and create an outfit inspired by the fashion we see.
This week I loved all the outfits from the latest episode of 'Pretty Little Liars',

(Pictures from the abc family website)

I loved the plaid shirt with the black jeans and grey shirt, so I tried to re-create this look with the same key pieces, I even added my own green coat and black boots!

Its not the first time Spencer has rocked plaid, here is a picture from another episode where she wore a similar shirt...

Shirt: Tara's ;)
Boots: Wild Pair
Bag and Coat: Vintage

The flaws of shopping arent that big...

"Regrets are for horseshoes and handbags"
- Tracy Morgan

When you come home from a day shopping, you often find that your arms feel dead and you feat ache, sometimes we even wonder if its really worth it.
But really just like a soldier, your injuries and wounds are the signs of a good battle. And with a good battle comes rewards in the end.
The reason your feet feel dead? You obviously got so excited for your big shopping trip you got all dressed and wore your high heels ;)
And how about those aching arms? Well must have been from carying all your shopping bags around!
So as your fashion doctor, after examining your injuries, i believe you suffered from a sever case of to much fun!

Here's what i ended up from my latest shopping trip!

Although i did make the mistake of buying this in the first op shop i went to which meant i was carrying around two bags for the rest of the day, but it was so worth it! This baby was only $10 (NZD)

Be regular and orderly in your life, so that you may be violent and original in your work.
Gustave Flaubert

Some of you may remember the post I did about the sewing project I had started...

Well good news I finished making a dress in time for the many occasions at the end of the year,
it was just a different dress than I started making.
The floral one is still a work in progress but this grey was brought to life quickly.

I went for a classic style that I would be able to wear to work
as well as go to some of the events this summer.
I also added a satin strip at the back by the zip
to match a skirt I have made in the same material.

I couldnt bear to take off my 'Saucy Jack' Butter nail polish
so I added some OPI black shatter with no top coat.
I liked the way the shatter was matt compared to the polish underneath.

I'm going to try speed up the progress on my pile of projects,
how many do you have on the go?
