"We live not according to reason, but according to fashion"
- Seneca

The cold weather here in New Zealand has finally kicked up a notch, causing us to hall out the winter gear
and get bundled up and warm. Roaring fires, soup and travel mugs containing hot drinks have become necessary
to survive the sudden change in temperature. Tara took these photos of me yesterday, a cold chill was in
the air as the sun was beginning to fall below the horizon. I really wanted to wear my favourite pleated dress
with my new bag from Jolly Chic, so the cold weather brought about a challenge for me. Keeping with the colour
tones of the bag and dress, I layered up the look with a knit and vintage coat. I actually really love how the
look turned out! One of my favourite parts of winter is how it always forces me to be creative with layered outfits
(well that and skiing woop woop!).

Jacket : Thrifted
Jumper : Forever New
Dress : Atrium on Elliot
Map backpack : Jolly Chic (and I actually found NZ on the map - the excitement #dontforgetthelittleones)

Easy DIY: Cut out t-shirt

"You can design and create, and build the most wonderful place in the world. But it takes people to make the dream a reality."
- Walt Disney

I have another DIY for you today, this time a lot easier than my previous necklace one (more a labour of love
than anything else). I got the idea for this from a photo I saw on tumblr but there was no instructions so I had
 to figure out my own.

You will need:
- scissors
- a pen
- a t-shirt you are prepared to destroy

It's pretty straight forward so I don't feel like I need to elaborate much on any of the steps. The only thing I will say is
make sure you try it on at each step to check that things, especially the sleeves, are where you want them. I know from
past projects sometimes they can go a bit squew-wiff pretty fast so its better to figure it out before you cut too much.

Ellen just went thrift shopping and got a shirt she wants to try do this with when she gets some time after exams, so
I'm excited to see how hers turns out!!

If you give this a go please comment below with links to photos, I'd love to see it!
Also if you have any questions, leave those down below too ^.^

50% of me: "I love dresses, flowers and pretty things"
Other 50% of me: "I love tattoos, hardcore music, concerts and skinny jeans"

I saw this on tumblr today and I thought it would go quite well with this post.
I also think it is a pretty good description of my style in general.
I can never seem to decide whether I want to be all girly and pretty and colourful
or what seems to portrayed as the opposite. This particular outfit can probably
join the 'opposite' category. From this post I have also thought about how it is interesting to
 see outfits from different angles than you do when getting dressed or wearing them;
in this case the photos somewhat make me rethink wearing the original no-singlet idea...

bracelets - equip, vintage love
skirt - glassons
hunger games necklace - amazon
top -  thrifted, DIY coming soon

I made this top out of a t-shirt I thrifted based off an idea I saw on, surprise surprise, tumblr.
I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out (though maybe a bit too high on the skin scale)
DIY coming soon ^.^

"Style is an expression of individualism mixed with charisma. Fashion is something that comes after style"
-John Fairchild

I got my creeper camera lens on at Tara's graduation a few weeks ago, that thing comes in handy. The super long lens
means I can subtly snap photos of peoples cool outfits around me mwahaha. I must say a graduation is great place for
fashion stalking and girl crushing on random passer bys shoes, damn they so gawgous!

“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.”
-Leonardo da Vinci

I have a new unbreakable attachment to this Country Road dress I picked up second hand at Savemart for $15!
I have worn it so much already, even repeating this exact outfit multiple times (I know, the horror, fashion bloggers do
wear the same outfit more than once!). The colour is gorgeous and goes with everything, khaki is so in style
and is a must for your wardrobe. The simple maxi style is classic, but I love the added gathering on the side
giving it the perfect shaping.

Dress : Country Road
Shoes : Hannahs
Blazer + Bag + Necklace: Thrifted
Fur Tail accessory : Gift from Katelyn

"I belive in pink..."
-Audrey Hepburn

A little girls heaven is made up of all things pink. For me, I never grew out of that idea.
So that I found myself way to excited when I heard about this Hello Kitty Cafe opening up in Newmarket. I mean,
the whole place was entirely pink! So after our little shopping trip last holidays with Tara, we went with Mum and treated
ourselves at this cute little place. Granted, it cost us more than any other normal cafe, but it was so worth it ;)
Here are some photos I snapped of the cafe and all the things we bought.

Shorts, socks, bustier : Glassons
Earrings : Equip
Nail Polish : OPI
Note book + pen : Kikki.K

Although I loved the themed decorations, I dont think this cafe will become a regular place to visit because of the
average food and scary prices haha! But a fun place to come once maybe twice ;)

Hipster Fridays...

"Today is the oldest you've been and the youngest you'll ever be again"
- Unknown

So while Ellen was out this evening (I'm not sure where, a performance maybe?), my one mission was to write up this post.
Yet somehow I forgot about that and got a bit carried away being productive in other ways (which is somewhat unusual) and
did some exercise and some sewing (which is coming along well! yay!), and completely forgot about writing this post, oops!
But all is not lost, it is technically still Friday so I'll quickly finish this and get some rest for work tomorrow.

So these are some photos that we took a little while ago, pre- busy week with rain on the only days we could take photos :(
It's starting to get dark so much earlier now that we left daylight savings behind and winter is fast approaching!
Makes taking photos a bit more challenging, but it means we will just have to be more organised...

hunger games necklace - Amazon
sweater - country road
glasses - thrifted
skirt - Asos
shirt - glassons

My sewing projects have been going really well, so I'm pretty excited to share one of those with y'all next week ^.^

Pink highlights in the darkness...

"We lose ourselves in the things we love. We find ourselves there too"
-Kristin Martz

Summer has officially past here in the Southern hemisphere and I have started to utilise more of my winter wardrobe
in my outfits. I took these photos a couple of weeks ago and forgot to post them, so this outfit would be a bit chilly
for current temperatures. But I've decided to post it anyway; in memory of summer for those of us from the Southern
hemisphere, and as something to look forwards to for the Northern.

Even if you don't know me in real life, I think it's pretty obvious that I have a love for bright pink. I gravitate towards it, and
even though I have ended up with a wardrobe full of a lot of black, bright pink often pops up. This outfit features some pink
accessories with an outfit of black, all against some beautiful New Zealand scenery...

hunger games parachute necklace - amazon
lipstick - MAC prolongwear "Dear Diary"
floral crown - supplies from spotlight
top and skirt - Glassons
shoes - Rubi shoes
bracelet - pandora

Yesterday my mum and I went fabric shopping to get some fabric that's kinda cool and a bit different, plus I had one
impulse buy that I'm excited to figure out what I'm going to do with. So now that I've got a bit more free time I'll be able
to work on some sewing projects again, yay!

Keep an eye out in the coming weeks for the results of these ideas :)
