A bag of beauty

"The best things in life are free, the second best are expensive"
-Coco Chanel

It has literally been 2 hours since I got home from school and opened the mail. Hot off my doorstep I bring you my new Gigi New York bag! A bag so gorgeous I couldn't even wait more than 2 hours to blog about.

Since the moment I was old enough to dress myself, my family have called me the handbag queen. Everywhere I went I had some kind of handbag and over the years my collection has grown. I literately have draws overflowing with bags and I still find myself buying more ;)
So when yours truly, the handbag queen, raves about a bag; its got to be a really good one.

This cross body bag is from Gigi New Yorks summer collection that is on sale in a few weeks time. You know the bags got to be good when it arrives in a gorgeous box, lined with tissue and a little hand written note! The stunning bag is made from the finest quality leather and is just the softest thing to touch.

You also have the option to have the bag personalized (I got my initials EMM on my bag) and this particular bag came with an
attachable strap which I cant wait to style and show off to you guys!
So I give Gigi New York the thumbs up and highly recommend them to all of you!

Something new...

"If I don't do laundry today, I'm gonna have to buy new clothes tomorrow."

Anna Paquin

Though I do have a lot of washing to sort out at the moment, that is not really a factor in this story.
(Also I always love watching Anna Paquin partially cause I can always say she's from NZ)

Have you ever been out and about and decided you hated what you were wearing?
I've done this more than once, but this was the first time I bought a whole new outfit!
I hadn't been shopping for a while and knew there were some new years sales around,
hence I could talk myself into the splurge.
So I popped into glassons in my lunch break and arrived back at work after an outfit change.

top and skirt - Glassons
belt - Portmans
jacket - Valley Girl
spike bracelet - Asos
timeturner necklace - WB
lipstick - Mac "soulfully rich"

So I was pretty pleased with my first go at full outfit impulse buying,
have you ever gone out and bought a entirely new outfit?

P.S dont forget about our latest giveaway!

Lost among my own jeans

"I have jeans with holes in them and I have nice jeans. I have casual and I have dressy jeans. I've got all kinds."
- Amanda Seyfried

You know you have to many jeans when you actually loose track and forgot you own a pair.
20 pairs may be a wee bit excessive... ;)
I found these high waisted black levis at the back of my wardrobe and Im a bit clueless as to when I got them.
But looking on the positive side, it felt like a shopping trip in my own wardrobe and discovering
something new and exciting!

Top - Something Else
Jeans - Levi
Bag - Christmas gift
Bracelet - silk and steel

Today temperatures make me think ice would be nice...

"Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire, I hold with those who favor fire."
- Robert Frost

These are the final photos from our Mimiwhangata trip. Looking back at them makes me yearn for those
icy cold waves to counteract the heat all around me at the moment.

top - one teapsoon
shorts - made by me
lego watch - asos
bracelets - cutey, silk and steel
hunger games necklace - amazon

I really love the silky cool feel to this new top I got for christmas, I still haven't managed to figure out
what kind of pattern it is though; cow, horshack test?

Till next time...

A work of art...

"Big girls need big diamonds"
- Elizabeth Taylor

We picked up this beautiful NZ made necklace from our adventure up north this summer. The Helena Bay Cafe and Gallery is a little piece of
Art heaven tucked away into the secluded hills of North New Zealand. It's well worth a visit if you happen to be in the area and Tara and
I are super excited about our necklace we bought there!

msdressy.com review part two

"Over the years I have learnt what is important in a dress is the women who is wearing it"
-Yves Saint Laurent

The oh-so-kind Auckland weather sent us running for shelter on Tuesday, cutting short our photo shoot of my new 'Msdressy' gown. We retreated back home but felt like we needed more photos to truly justify the dresses beauty. So after a second photo shoot we were left with a whole bunch of photos and decided to split them into two posts. In my previous post I shared some dramatic of my gossip girl lookalike  down by the harbour. The purpose of this post is to see some more detailed snaps of the dress.

This dress is a dream to wear! It was made from scratch, personalized just for me. It was as simple as picking the colour and sending in my measurements. Then what arrived in the mail was a work of art that seemed too beautiful to wear. The dress is flawlessly made with a beautiful silk lining and an invisible zip up the back. The dress also has boning meaning it is shaped and sits perfectly without any puckering or drooping. The only issue I had with the dress was that some of the hand stitching on the straps has come loose after being hung on a coat hanger, but all in all its fabulous quality and I am extremely happy and excited with my dress!

Love at first sight...

"Three words, eight letters. Say it and I’m yours"
-Blair Waldorf

The moment Serena Vanderwoodsen walked on screen at the white party of the season two premier I was in love. Her stunning Oscar de la Renta had my mouth drop
open in awe.  I swear that dress appeared in my dreams for nights after, but never did I think I could ever own it. Insert 'msdressy'.
Any dress you've ever dreamed about is on Msdressy.com. With a wide selection of  wedding, prom and homecoming dresses, I myself have already wasted hours scouring every page of this website. This gossip girl replica was made to order and it fits me perfectly.
I could go on forever praising Msdressy.com but as they say, a picture is worth a
thousand words so take a look.

Unfortunately the Auckland weather left us running for shelter and we only got these few snaps.
We did however snap some more detailed shots of the dress once back home, so stay tuned
for part two with more photos!

Check out 'msdressy' and find your own dream dress!

Hat to toe look...

"You have got to be the queen to get away with a hat like that"
-Anita Loos

The lovely Erin modelled my favourite floppy beach hat for me while I we were away up North of New Zealand.
This particular floppy hat I bought from Valley Girl last year. I love the pure
white colour and the glamorous way it falls! Not only is it practical in protecting
you from the killer sun here in New Zealand, its also oh so trendy!

Wish I was back here and could run into those cool waves...

"Ah, summer, what power you have to make us suffer and like it."
-Russell Baker

Last night I went to a place called Snowplanet where you can basically ski in a slope sized freezer.
I had an awesome time trying out my new gear, only to wake up this morning to find its a super hot
day. I normally don't deal well with hot weather but the reminder of how much I like the cold means I'm not really up to writing a masterpiece of a post.
The pictures will just have to speak for themselves.

skirt - made by me
tshirt - dotti
glasses - thrifted
hunger games necklace - amazon
bracelets - silk & steel
