History homework.. yay?

"The life of a blogger is certainly not all photoshoots and cupcake Instagrams."
-IFB

I wore this red dress the other afternoon for a family afternoon tea. When Tara and I went to take outfit
photos I decided to add some accessories. The first thing I found? My history book I'm reading for school
and these geek tortoise shell glasses. Embracing these strange items of choice, Tara took  these geeky school
girl style photos. I actually think the look turned out quite adorable, showing of my true nerd-girl personality.

Dress: Ladakh
Shoes: Savemart
Socks: Portmans
Glasses: Thrifted
Book: The History of New Zealand (note how little I have read so far... not the most exciting)

Comfort for me, pictures for you...

"Dress for yourself and the man you love (if there is one). Women dressing to impress other women
- forget about that. Forget about that. It's a very bad way of thinking"

- Karl Lagerfeld

I often like to say to others that I dress for myself. I normally find myself in whatever item takes my fancy when I happen to be getting dressed.
Comfort, colour, pattern, feel, it changes every day, but I try to pick things that I like and help me feel ready for whatever my day holds.
Today I got home from work and promptly put on my relatively new pair of lounge pants.
Ellen then pointed out hey we need outfit photos, but I didn't feel like changing,
so the lounge pants stayed and the heels were put back on...

jacket - Valley Girl
tshirt - Dotti
bag - Yeswalker
time turner necklace - WB store
lounge pants - Cotton on body
shoes - RMK

It's a bit random but it kinda works.

It also only just dawned on me that the side braid I've been wearing a lot lately
has a very Katniss Everdeen feel to it
haha totally unintentional I swear!

Sculpture on the Gulf - Waiheke Island

"Voted number thirty five on the New York Times list of things to do in the world"

I wanted to share with you guys some photos Tara and I took at the sculpture on the gulf on Waiheke Island.
It was voted as one of the top things in the world in 2013 by the New York Times and its not hard to see why.
Thee walk itself is simply beautiful, a path running along the cliffs of the coastline, with stunning views of the ocean
and the faint outine of Auckland on the skyline. I didnt want to bore you with too many photos, so I just picked a
few of the sculptures and some of Tara and I fooling around with the camera.

The sculpture walk has always had interactive sort 'sculptures for people to have some fun with. This year, one artist
had created a shell runway and costumes for black and white costumes. Tara and I decided to try on an outfit
and give the runway a go. The two photos of us in below in the black conjoint costume is meant to symbolise
relationships and we were meant to embrace that and 'become' the sculpture.

From New York to Auckland comes one bag...

"Not necessarily somebody has to match, but sometimes it's nice to have the same shoe and same handbag"
- Laura Moltedo

A girl can never have too many bags. A concept sometimes men struggle to understand,
but a bag isn't just a tool in which we carry around our junk, it is a statement to the world.
This embossed python cross-body bag from Gigi New York just screams glamour to all passing admirers.
I felt like such a gorgeous and vibrant bag needed a 'blank canvas' style outfit to really show off the new summer colour.
I paired it with a silver dress Tara sewed herself and some matching citron coloured shoes.
The blooming flowers up at our local park perfectly complemented the outfit and really gave that perfect summery look I wanted.

What do you think of the bag? Check out Gigi New York to see the new summer collection!

Same habit, new fur...

The fox changes his fur but not his habits
- Unknown

A while ago Ellen and I got some jewelry sent to us from Eclectic Eccentricity.
I did a blog post already about how much I loved everything about them
, but a little while later I was on their site and found a new thing to fall in love with (and therefore needed).

It took me a while but I just couldn't resist this fox necklace,
so I bought this little guy and was excited for it to arrive.

Now its just waiting for the perfect outfit post to match with :)

Thank you Valentine...

"Don't cry because your'e single, smile because everything is heart shaped and tastes like chocolate. Wise words right there"
- Isabella (Views Of Now

Wise words indeed from one of my favourite Australian blogs 'Views Of Now'.
Much like Australia, in New Zealand, Valentines day is not such a huge deal, but that doesn't make me love it any less.
When deciding on a Valentines themed outfit to share with your guys, I found myself reaching for this old red thing. Those of
you who have been following Tara and I for awhile will recognise it as a dress we share that used to be our mothers. I just felt the bright red
colour and heart shaped neckline was the perfect way to go for V-day. I paired it with same black heels, my floral crown and my silver charm bracelet.

Dress: Mothers
Shoes: Hannahs
Floral Crown: Made by me
Bracelet: gift

Oh and ofcourse I had to show off my gorgeous red roses from my Valentine ;) he knows who he is.

Happy Valentines everyone!

Awkward and I know it...

I like people who have a sense of individuality. I love expression and anything awkward and imperfect,
because that’s natural and that’s real.

- Marc Jacobs

I've always been a pretty awkward person in many aspects of life, and as I've gotten older I think I've
both lost some of that or rather embraced it as something that's always there.
However as soon as a camera is turned towards me I have two reactions;
to make a funny face or be lost and crippled by awkwardness.
Luckily my photographers stick with me and we will normally have some post worthy photos left after a delete session.
Even though I was in a deserted paddock for these shots I still didn't know what to do,
but you almost wouldn't know it.

belt - kookai
t-shirt, skirt - thrifted
spike bracelet - asos
time turner necklace - WB shop
shoes - Ellens

If you have a blog do you ever get stuck for poses?

Sorry Ellen for always having to put up with "what do I do, I dont know what I'm doing, there's people looking this way"

Bucket advice

"We give advice by the bucket, but take it by the grain"
- William R Alger

Tara and I received another lovely gift from Yeswalker.com the other day. This time an amazing electric blue bucket bag.
Bucket bags sure have grown on me, when they first appeared n the runway I was a little skeptical.I think in ways they just reminded me of
bucket hats (ahhh horror memories from my primary school uniform *shudder*). But I can now happily say, bucket bags are my new best friend.
I swear they are the perfect size, you can easily get everything you need in there, yet it doesn't come off looking big and bulky.

Bag c/o yeswalker

For styling the bag I paired it with blue coloured shoes borrowed from Tara, going for the classic matching-accessories-look.
I also wanted to show of this green baby that I bought about a month ago from Savemart.
It was originally from Glassons for around $60 and I got it in mint condition for $10, score!

Anyone else invested in a bucket bag recently? Comment below!

Summers sunset

"When the sun has set, no candle can replace it"
-George R.R Martin

I just wanted to share a few photos from our trip to Waiheke Island last week.
Waiheke is about a half hour ferry ride from Auckland and is beautiful place to spend a long weekend. As we were camping,
my clothing was limited to what I had in my bag. But at sun set we just couldn't resist taking just a few snaps.
I'm uploading more photos as I'm typing this (silly me took hundreds of photos and its taking forever to upload hehe)
and hope to share them with you guys soon!

Top : Thrifted
Skirt : Dotti
Necklaces : Third eye
