Real life contexts: fashion in a hospital?

“Céline is not a brand for spectacle, it’s a brand for real life,”

I spent the past week for uni on clinical placement in a hospital, which meant a change of pace outfit and makeup wise (e.g. compared to last time I wore this jacket). Instead of whatever took my fancy I had to think about what was within the dress code and appropriate for the environment. This is an outfit I wore on one of those days (on some of which I was mistaken for a doctor haha!). I did wear my floral blazer one day, but for the most past I've been pretty monochrome and I'm yet to try a non-neutral lipstick colour (maybe this week!)

 shoes - novo
skirt - made by me
shirt - glassons
jacket - choies
 watch - May28th

While putting together this post I only just noticed my wrinkled skirt!? Cringe! But I'm only human (and often utilise a chair or floor storage system oops)

I know this particular outfit isn't super exciting but it does show a different place you need to think about what you're wearing. If you'd like to see another post like this let us know in the comments below

  1. I can imagine that would be difficult to work out whats appropriate or not but I'm sure you have it down now :) I know a friend that went to some placement type things and did not wear appropriate clothing and it ruined the experience for her because the people working at the hospital were not impressed. Very professional outfit :)

  4. Hi, there! I had some hectic weeks and was out of internet! I can see you chose a very elegant style, and you are right, a change of place needs this sometimes! Still beautiful! I like black and white combo, and I didn't find your skirt is creased! denisesplanet.com

  8. Definitely know what you mean, though I'm not in a hospital setting, projecting a professional image through your outfit is very important.

It's also quite hard to get it right I found lately through experimenting with my different pieces I have~

  9. Black and white is always a good fail-safe outfit idea for work! :)

And don't worry about the wrinkled skirt - after working all day my clothes look like that too! :)

  11. Hmmm--- I would think working in a hospital would be one of the more conservative places in terms of dress. Although perhaps bright colors would be cheery for patients? Either way, I do like the simplicity of this outfit…

  15. I don't really go to hospitals (luckily) so I actually have no clue. Though I never think of them as places of style mavens - with exception to doctors though, so why not! I really like this look and I'd love to see more of your work ensembles in the future too
