Clinique 3 step review P2 : History + Science

"I'm a big believer in that if you focus on good skin care, you wont need a lot of make-up."
- Demi Moore

Welcome to our second video in our Clinique 3-Step Journey! If you missed our previous video, you can check it out here. We recently got the chance to review the Clinique 3-Step over on nzgirl. After going along to a consultation with the lovely Kristelle from St Lukes Clinique we were matched with the anti-blemish solutions 3-Step system. We are making three videos about the product and our experience introducing it into our skincare routine.

In this video we go over a bit of brand history and then we got a little nerdy. We talked about the science of skin and the Clinique 3-Step products. When investigating in a good quality skin care routine, you want to know how long the products are going to last. We held our own little experiment to estimate how long our face wash, clarifying lotion and moisturiser would last individually. Check it out below all in this video!

Stay tuned for our next video where we will be discussing our daily skin care routines!

A Taste of Winter...

“What good is the warmth of summer, without the cold of winter to give it sweetness.”
― John Steinbeck

In Ellen's last post, she showed off the light grey version of this jumper from Garage's new Autumn/Winter range. At the preview this was one of our favourite pieces, and I can see myself wearing it a lot as the weather cools down. Though this outfit was entirely too hot for the ball of humidity Auckland has been lately, sometimes sacrifices have to be made for the sake of fashion (or in this case fashion blog posts).

lipstick - Rimmel Kate Moss in 107
pants, shoes - glassons
top - Garage
shoes - Windsor Smith

I can't wait for the weather to get cooler! There was a little taste this morning when it was 14°C, until the sun warmed everything up to 26°C and I roasted. Bring on winter I say!

I 'Spot' With My Little Eye...

“Fashion is not necessarily about labels. It’s not about brands. It’s about something else that comes from within you."
-Ralph Lauren

Tara was telling me the other day how she walked past a girl on the street wearing something from the latest Karen Walker collection. Despite having the hottest new piece from NYFW, there was something really off about her outfit and (dare I say it?), not at all trendy. Simply buying the latest coveted item from the runways, or having a designer logo stamped all over your bag, does not automatically make an outfit 'stylish'.

In this look I am wearing two pieces from the Warehouses' new Autumn Garage range. The Warehouse is becoming my 'go-to' shop when I'm in need of new clothes that are on trend and budget. My friend was after some new work out gear and I promptly suggested she check out the warehouse (Tara already had a piece from their latest Active collection even before the preview). When met I up with my friend today she gushed about how amazing the new range was and how great it was to find good quality exercise gear for a fair price. Trust me on this one guys, you should pop into the Warehouse next time you're out, you wont be disappointed.

Pants, Jumper c/o 'Garage'
Shoes - Garage (for $2 whhaaat?!)

I am so completely obsessed with these pants; can we just take a moment to appreciate those cute-as-pie polka dot? We were so excited after the Autumn laucnh (read about that in our previous post here), that we couldn't wait to share with you guys our favourite items. Spark PR sent us out these sample pants to shoot and I must say, I was a little heartbroken to send them back. I will certainly be lining up for them when they drop in store later this season!

The Warehouse Autumn/Winter 14 Preview

"Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower."
- Albert Camus

Last Tuesday we went along to The Warehouse Autumn/Winter 2014 preview. Tara previously attended their summer preview (here), so we were excited to go along together this time. It was held at Highwic House; a historic Auckland landmark from the 19th century. With a grand piano and vintage teacups, it was the perfect location to complement the cosy winter offerings.
We took a few photos at the event of the old world backdrop, and some items we are excited to arrive in store.

This time we met the Garage buyer who's name was also Tara! We loved her outfit, it's a great example of the latter part of the range this season. The first pieces in store will be lighter washed out florals and denim, leading to darker slightly grungy pieces as the winter items come out. There are also some great "College Chic" pieces this season which will be perfect for when uni gets back in action.

We were also particularly excited about the onesies coming in this year. The Warehouse is "the home of the onsie" this year and are going to have a huge selection. Tara was most drawn to the superhero (DC) ones, struggling to decide whether the Superman, Batman or Wonder woman one was her favourite (see also x).

Blogger Seeking Street Art ...

“Some people become cops because they want to make the world a better place. Some people become vandals because they want to make the world a better looking place.”

- Banksy (Wall and Piece)

The other day Nicole from Gary Pepper did a post with some beautiful photos with some New York street art. I said to Ellen we should find some graffiti art to take photos with for the next post. Luckily when we were walking around down by the waterfront we found this container painted by New Zealand artist Erika Pearce to take photos with, so lucky even the colours went perfectly with the outfit.

nails - Butter in "Union Jack Black' and 'Chancer'
hunger games necklace - Amazon
floral blazer - style keepers
leggings, top - glassons
shoes - Windsor Smith
sunglasses - Molly N

I've always loved street-art and I'm always sad when good ones get painted over. I have this dream of one day commissioning an artist to do a big piece on my garage or a blank wall, but until then there's plenty around cities that I can enjoy :)

Noir et Blanc : Pretty Little Liars Inspired Fashion

“I always thought champagne was the most sophisticated thing in the world.”
- Pretty Little Liars, Aria Montgomery

Last Wednesday we went along to the 'Selling Dreams' exhibition at the Auckland Museum. It is a display of a 100 years of fashion photography and was completely inspiring (if you want to know more, check it out here). We were particularly amazed by the collection of black and white photos and the beauty they carried. The following night we sat down to watch the latest episode of Pretty Little Liars, which just so happened to be in black and white and set in the 1940's. The fashion and drama of the show left us totally inspired. We spent this morning creating the outfits, hair and make-up like the show. For those of you who don't watch Pretty Little liars, (you are definitely crazy if you don't, just saying), we included some snaps from the episode so you can see our inspiration.

Ellen Wears:
Jacket - Thrifted
Fur Jacket- Valley Girl
Pants c/o Style Keepers
Pearls - Passionata
Shoes - Clarks

Tara Wears:
Dress - Mothers
Fur Jacket - Grandmothers
Shoes - Number One Shoes

Our hair and makeup was definitely something fun in this shoot. Ellen made a little fake hair bob and Tara went for her most dramatic cat eye. We absolutely love how these photos turned out; we are so keen to incorporate this 40's glamour into an everyday outfit.
Make sure you leave your comments below, we would love to hear what you thought of these photos!

Clinique 3 Step Review P1: The Consulation

“Beneath the makeup and behind the smile I am just a girl who wishes for the world.”
― Marilyn Monroe

We recently got the chance to review the Clinique 3-Step over on nzgirl. After going along to a consultation with the lovely Kristelle from St Lukes Clinique we were matched with the anti-blemish solutions 3-Step system. We are making three videos about the product and our experience introducing it into our skincare routine.

This first video is about the consultation process and our first thoughts about the product. If you’ve ever thought about trying the Clinique 3-Step system hopefully this series of videos will answer questions and teach you a bit more about looking after your skin.

Stay tuned for our next video (we just filmed it today) where we will take a further look at the products themselves and get a little sciency ;).

Hope you enjoy the first video!

If you'd like to know about some of the other types of 3 Step available or a different perspective there are some reviews from other lovely nzgirl's here :)
