Tourist Fashion - My Travel Outfit

There's a reason tourists are notorious for wearing fanny packs, unattractive shorts and boring sandals; it's just so practical! If you saw my Gold Coast vlogs, you would have seen me wearing a bum bag and I must say, it could potentially be the best bag I have ever purchased. Whilst in Melbourne I also found myself wearing basic shorts and sandals. I now feel I have fully embraced tourist fashion and hey, I think I pull it off pretty well!

Basic - What I Wore In Melbourne

While we were in Melbourne I added to my grey t-shirt collection with this number from H&M. Simple t-shirts are something I seem to keep buying because they go with so many outfits. It has now gotten to the point that Ellen and Mum roll their eyes when they find out I've bought another. I mean technically this is a different grey to the others (one of which I have worn so much it has developed holes) so that's fine right? I love a good basic outfit or mixing and matching the pieces with more bold items in my closet. I still stand by the idea that you can't have too many basics.

DIY Glitter Accent Bowl Video

After seeing these glitter accent bowls all over pinterest, we decided to give it a go ourselves and film the process of how we did it. This is probably one of the easiest DIY's we have done and the end result was AMAZING (if we do say so ourselves). All you need is some PVA (or mod podge), balloons and of course some glitter. Let us know what you think in the comments below and thumbs up the video if you enjoyed it!

Travel Essentials - Fashion Bloggers Take Melbourne + GIVEAWAY

We've just come back from an amazing five day trip to Melbourne so for today's post we thought we would share our travel essentials. We took with us some pieces from the new Uniti stationery range 'Wanderlust' which is available at Warehouse Stationery now. All of their travel items would make great Christmas gifts and stocking fillers or just a cheeky present for yourself if you are going on a trip sometime soon.

Travel Documents

It may seem obvious but a passport is essential to travel overseas. Not only for the pretty instagram of your passport holder at the airport, but you'll probably also need it to get out of the country. Having a travel wallet to keep all your documents in also makes life easier as you don't have to go ferreting around in your bag to look for boarding passes or other bits.

Suitcase + Luggage Tag

A suitcase is up there on the essentials list, because where else are you going to put all your shopping? Even though our suitcases are bright pink the luggage tag was surprisingly helpful for picking out our suitcases on the baggage carousel. If you want to see whats in our suitcase check out our video here.

Camera

We ended up taking four different camera's if you include our phones. You might not need that many, but having some way to capture your trip in photo form is something we consider essential. We ended up using our vlog camera the most, and you can check out our daily Melbourne vlogs on our youtube channel here. Having your phone is also super handy for getting quick shots on the go (you can see Tara demo-ing her best instagram squat above).

Travel Diary

Recording your trip in a travel diary is a fun way to remember your adventure. We still have some of our grandparents travel diaries, they're a cool thing to look back on for years to come. This particular book comes with stickers, photo mounts and other bits to make it easy-least to look great.

Comfy Walking Shoes

We did a lot of walking around Melbourne and walking places is a great way to see new cities when travelling. Bringing a pair of shoes you know will still be comfy after a day of walking is important to keep your feet happy!

Reading Material/Activities

Depending on where you're going you could have quite a bit of time sitting on the plane. Our flight to Melbourne was about four hours so we bought books, magazines and an adult colouring book to pass some time. It's quite a nice way to gets some off-screen time too.

Money

For our trip we bought some cash as well as cash passports to pay for all the delicious food and shopping. Let us know in the comments below if you would like to see a haul video of the things we bought!

Thankyou Cards

We stayed with our cousin in Melbourne so another thing that was important to us was saying thank you. We got her some pretty flowers and used a card from the Wanderlust collection to write a little note about how much we appreciated it. This set is a super cute way to say thanks to the people that help you in your travels.

GIVEAWAY
We also have a $50 Warehouse Stationery voucher to giveaway to a lucky reader so you can get some cool bits for your summer travels! Enter below to be in for a chance to win :)

Playsuits & Crystal Necklaces

We have just restocked our blog shop woop woop!! For those of you who did not know, Tara and I have opened our own online store selling crystal and stone necklaces. Prices start from $11.99 so they are super affordable and would make great Christmas presents too. In today's outfit post I am wearing a few of my favourites from the collection. Firstly is the blue sandstone horizontal pendant, which I layered with the matching crystal body chain. I styled them with this awesome playsuit I have also been loving at the moment. Though it is a little short on me it is great for lounging around the house on lazy days.

What's In Our Suitcase Video - Melbourne Edition

This week we went on a five day trip to Melbourne together and had an amazing time! We have already uploaded two daily vlogs from our trip on our youtube channel here, but today we wanted to share what we packed for our holiday. Also thumbs up for the half a suitcase left empty for shopping hehe!

We must admit, we felt pretty cool wheeling these bad boys around the airport. The hot pink colour stood out amongst the sea of black suitcases coming off the plane. They were also easy to pack, lightweight AND they could hold all of our shopping (which was a lot)!

How to Dress Like You Mean Business

One of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe is my blue navy suit. We featured it in our workwear lookbook a while ago, but it has yet to feature in an outfit post so I thought it would be a good time to crack it out. I like to call this suit my power suit and today I thought I would share my tips on how to dress like you mean business.

1. Power suit -
A good suit has the ability to make you feel extremely badass, trust me. My navy suit is quite fitted and I usually style with a simple top tucked in with the matching navy belt.

2. Red lips - Nothing beats a red lip on any occasion. For this look I thought it complimented the navy suit really nicely. As people say, you can take on the world, but first you will need some lipstick.

3. High pony - When you are wanting to dress like you mean business I think it is really important to have your hair off your face. A high pony is the perfect solution for this and adds a sleek touch to your outfit.

4. Heels - Shoes with some heel are always my go to when I want to dress like I mean business. I read in Kristie Clements book once that heels not only elongate your legs and make you look fabulous, but they also have a very professional appearance and are a must for a job interview. Of course heels for many aren't an everyday shoe, but they are definitely great for a special occasion.
