How to curl straight & thin hair

Getting big bouncy waves when you've got straight limp hair can be a real hassle. I've spent many years trying to master it and you'll have to forgive me for my boasting but I think I've finally cracked it.

My first tip would be to pin your curls to your head and let them cool down. Yes it's time consuming but trust me it's worth the wait. If you let hot curls go, they will fall out a lot faster compared to if you keep them curled and pinned till they cool.

Of course the next important element is having the right tools. I've tried numerous wands and tongs but the ghd soft curl tong is my new best friend. If you've got long thin hair like me then the fat wide barrel is a must.

Finally I would say never brush your curls out with a hairbrush if your hair is thin. Just tossle them with your fingers and throw your head back and forth a bit before locking it in with some hair spray.

A few weeks ago I filmed this Glam date night get ready with me video featuring my new 'do if you want to see the whole process in action!

Have a look around my room | Interview on Urbn Wild

This week I thought I'd share a few shots of my bedroom in Australia that I took for my "At Home With" interview for Britney's blog UrbnWild.

I had done a vlog showing constructing furniture and initially setting up my new room but theres been a couple of adjustments and the addition of a book shelf! This was to add some more storage as I was finding it hard to keep everything tidy and organised when it was all sqaushed into the little storage I already had.

If you'd like to read the interview you can find it here :)

New In : Statement Track Pants

I had grand plans of many self-timed photoshoots around Melbourne when I moved in July, yet somehow these are the only ones I took and it’s already September! Time certainly flies.

I ordered these People Tree pants with some birthday money (as featured in this vlog) as I was after some comfy pants that would be great for uni, flying and just chilling on weekends. And what’s more comfortable than wide leg track pant? I thought the stripes were a bit more exciting than classic grey track pant and made a bit of a statement. I've often styled them with a black jumper, jacket and boots to pull together a slightly more dressed up look that is still super comfortable.

Pants – People Tree // Jacket – Just Jeans // Jumper – The Warehouse // Boots – Indiana // Faux-suede Tote – made by me

You can check out the vlog here if you wanted to see some of the other things I got for my birthday :)

What to Wear on a Cruise - OOTD

I've always spent my holidays with my feet firmly on the ground either camping or skiing. But a few weeks ago I was lucky enough to travel to Sydney and spend four days cruising up the coast of Australia for work. After the trip I sure can see why people love cruises! It was very relaxing and the ship had everything you could possibly need for a blissful holiday. Of course me being me needed a new outfit for my travels, so the day before I left New Zealand I headed to Zara. I picked up this gorgeous off the shoulder top with statement sleeves. Paired with my skinny jeans, scarf and Balinese straw bag, I think it made for the perfect cruise outfit! Since buying this bag on our trip to Bali last year it's become noticably popular on Instagram so I must remember to pull it out more. Let me know in the comments below what you think and if you've ever been on a cruise before.

Queenstown Photo Diary

I visited Queenstown for the first time last year and it's quickly become one of my favourite places in New Zealand. It's such a picturesque place and everywhere you go you'll want to stop and take photos. Back in April Connor and I flew down for a weekend trip and even though it was a short holiday, we still managed to do so many fun things. Today thought I'd share a couple of photos from the trip as well as our travel video if you missed it on our Youtube channel!

Why do New Zealander's wear so much black?

Kiwis are well known for their love of black clothing. It could have ties to the history of black sporting uniforms, well known internationally through our love of the All Blacks rugby team. The choice of black sports uniforms has been linked to the availability of black at the time, as well as standing out from other international teams, and not showing dirt as easily. It's often a shock for visitors as to how many people are wearing black. The phenomenon has be said to have started in the 1990's and hasn't shown any signs of going away. New Zealand designers such as Nom*D and Zambesi are known for their iconic love of monochrome and black clothing. Though some people say it looks like we are all going to a funeral, I don't think the sea of black will stop any time soon! I'm personally a huge fan of an all black look. For this outfit I added a khaki tshirt to the mix, but I would say it's still a pretty black look haha!
