The inedible greens entering my life...

"Green is the prime color of the world, and that from which its loveliness arises."
- Pedro Calderon de la Barca

I think a lot of the loveliness of spring and summer is from the abundance of green.
From that initial pop of lime as new leaves appear, to the fading green as the temperature cools,
there does seem to be a lot of green in this part of the world this time of year.

You may have noticed I tend to gravitate towards either black or really bright fabric,
and this outfit seems to showcase both of those weaknesses.

Both the top and shorts are two recently (and hurriedly) finished sewing projects of mine to
wear to various Christmas occasions.
I fell in love with this lime green fabric months ago when I also bought its sister fabric in pink to make a dress for my 21st birthday.
I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out however the top did unintentionally end up as a crop top,
so my current thinking is to add a peplum to the bottom; thoughts?

For these photos Ellen and I tried hard to find a blooming pohutukawa tree
(A native New Zealand tree that has amazing red blossoms around Christmas)
but failed and settled with this red tipped hedge instead, we shall keep trying though.
Hope you had a nice Christmas!
