Divgergent Inspired Fashion Pt II: Amity, Candor and Erudite

“Becoming fearless isn’t the point. That’s impossible. It’s learning how to control your fear, and how to become free from it” - Veronica Roth, Divergent

Divergent is out in cinemas now and in a nod to the brilliant book that started it all, we have been breaking down the looks for each of the five diverse factions (you can see our looks for Dauntless and Abnegation here). We saw the Divergent movie at Easter weekend and thought it was awesome! We especially loved how loyal they were to the book, it’s one of few successful book to movie out there! Even if you’ve seen the movie the book is still worth reading; you’ll get the dish behind those long looks between Four and Tris, and learn more about her friends Will and Christina.

Anyway this post is about the fashion! The looks we’ve put together are more specific to the books (so a little different to the movie), but they were fun to create so we hope you enjoy them :).

AMITY

Amity is the faction that values peacefulness, kindness, forgiveness, and trust. They are the ones that grow most of the food for the factions on farms outside the city perimeter, so this would be reflected in the clothing they wear. Their colours in the book are red and yellow to symbolize happiness and freedom.

Ellen is wearing a yellow skirt, plaid shirt and brown lace up boots. This outfit is perfect for working in the fields, but it’s also bright and happy.

We decided to stick to red and yellow as described in the book rather than introducing browns and greens like they did in the movie.

CANDOR

Candor is the faction that value honesty and truth very highly. The wear only black and white as this is how they see truth to be.

Ellen is wearing a crisp white button up, a black skort and leather sandals (Because pleather is just lying!). We thought this represented the Candor personality with graphic sharp corners.

ERUDITE

Erudite is the faction that values knowledge, curiosity and intelligence. Members must wear at least one item of blue clothing as it supposed to be “a calming colour that helps stimulate the brain”. They also (in the books) tend to wear thick rimmed glasses to make them seem smarter.

Tara is wearing a royal blue dress,  blazer, glasses and metallic stilettos.  Looking smart and powerful is key for pulling off Erudite style.

We hope you enjoyed our Divergent inspired outfits!
